Level 57 Awakening

What is the awakening and when can I achieve it for my character?

The awakening (also called "advance" or "job advancement" by some players) is an improvement for characters that become available at a certain point of progress. This one provides more skills and skill extensions for existing skills + a free outfit and some other useful items such as a skill tree reset ticket; the final purpose of the awakening is to improve your character's performance in combat.

How do I unlock it?

You can unlock your awakening quest after hitting level 57. It is a special quest with an orange !+ icon; you also need to clear the story quest "Goodbye" from Dreadful Echo episode 4 in order to unlock it.

Depending on the character, the awakening quest won't be given by the same NPC: it will be either from Martin, Miriam, or Tenebris, all 3 at Grasscover Camp.

For every characters, the awakening quest is divided into 3 parts, and for each one it will require to perform 3 specific tasks aside from talking to NPCs and walking through different city zones. For these tasks though, the requirements vary according to the character as follow:

  • Haru Estia: during the series you will need to craft 3 items at Janice, which are "Mixed debris of Last Carnival", "Mixed debris of Junk Hive" and "Mixed debris of Bandit Highway". For each crafted debris and after a bit of talking with some NPCs, you will have to use a Corrupted Fragment and go speaking with your dark self in the Abandoned Grave.
  • Erwin Arclight: same requirements than for Haru.
  • Lily Bloommerchen: same requirements for the 2 first items. The last one though, you have to craft "Mixed debris of Iron Castle" instead of the one of Bandit Highway.
  • Stella Unibell: she requires to craft the mixed debris of Last Carnival and Bandit Highway. Her 3rd special task differs though: she requires to clear Dreadful Echo episode 4 in hard mode 3x. Take care of not messing up with the selected difficulty!
  • Jin Seipatsu: same requirements than for Stella, except he has to craft the mixed debris of Junk Hive instead of the one from Last Carnival*.
  • Iris Yuma: in order, she requires to craft the mixed debris of Last Carnival > clear Dreadful Echo episode 4 in hard mode 3x > craft the mixed debris of Junk Hive.
  • Chii Aruel: she requires to craft the mixed debris of Iron Castle and Bandit Highway. Afterwards, she has to clear Dreadful Echo episode 3 in hard mode 3x. Beware not to confuse with Stella/Jin/Iris and run episode 3 here instead of episode 4!
  • Ephnel: same requirements than for Chii.

Lee Nabi does not make part of this list because her awakening quests series is directly bounded to her story quests line.

The Mixed debris can be crafted using rookie raids' resources (Irregular Stone and Vacuum Energy). To obtain them you can either run rookie raids directly or simply purchase them through the in-game market with zenny. Note that for characters requiring to craft 3 items, and at Janice's VIP level 0, you require up to 75 Irregular Stones and 6 Vacuum Energies.

Don't get confused so easily. The translators mistaken on the translation and it is indicated "Mixed Remains" in the quests' details, but it is actually the same item than the "Mixed debris" available at Janice's craft shop!

*BEWARE for Jin, at the time to craft the first Mixed debris, the quest indicates to craft the one for Iron Castle but you actually need to craft the one for Junk Hive!

for players from the old version (GFSW) who still think the awakening quest goes as it was on this version: you don't need to clear specific rookie raids any more in order to complete your awakening, you also don't need to unlock each rookie raid before neither - these are all unlocked directly at level 55 onwards.

What does provide the awakening after achievement?

Your awakening is achieved once you talk to your dark self at the 10th quest segment. When this is done, you directly unlock your new abilities in addition of the extra goodies which are the following:

  • 2 Titles (one pre and one sub). The number of the titles vary depending on the character, but the stats provided by them are all the same for every characters. You can check them on the titles' list
  • 1 costume PKG containing your awakening costume. Every pieces inside this box are permanent except the weapon, which lasts for some days before vanishing.
  • 1 skill tree reset ticket.

As aforementioned, the awakening unlocks new skills and new skill extensions. Here are more details:

  • It adds 2 new extensions on existing active skills, for every characters.
  • It adds 2 new active skills, for every characters.
  • It adds 1 new passive skill, for every characters.
  • It add 1 exodius skill ("ultimate" frenzy skill). This one is available once using the 2nd level frenzy skill (called "Awakening"), and using it doesn't remove your active frenzy buff (unlike it used to be on GFSW).

It is strongly recommended to complete your advancement before running endgame raids.
