Desire Awakening
Last update: 11/29/2021
What is the Desire Awakening and when can I achieve it for my character?
The Desire Awakening (also called "desire worker" or abbreviated "dw" by players) is a second improvement for characters that become available at a certain point of progress and which come in addition of the Level 57 Awakening. Unlike the first awakening, this one does not provide new skills but adds extra damage to existing skills and modifies the buffs of the Awakening frenzy skill; the final purpose of the Desire Awakening is to equalize the performance out of the frenzy skill and incredibly improve your character's performance in combat.
How do I unlock it?
You can unlock your awakening quest after hitting level 65. Just like the previous awakening, it is a special quest with an orange !+ icon; to be accessible though, you require first to clear every quests from the Corrupted Records!
Unlike the previous awakening, the Desire Awakening comes after the Corrupted Records quests series and is then always provided by the same NPC (Tenebris, at Grasscover).
Also, and again unlike the previous awakening, the Desire Awakening's unfolding is the same for every characters:
- You need to clear the Corrupted Records' quests series first.
- Afterwards you need to clear S-303 Shelter episode 4 in maniac mode once.
- Once this is done, you need to collect 20 Examples of Supremacy*.
- You then need to craft the Desire Clothing**.
- And finally, you need to upgrade the Desire Energy to +9 at Trisha***.
*About the Examples of Supremacy, the quest's details seem unclear so here is a quick recap on how to collect them:
- Clear Holy Ground and/or Dawn of Fate, episode 4 in maniac mode for each. Each run rewards with maybe 2 samples.
- Clear Altar of Void in maniac mode. Each run rewards with 10~12 samples.
- Clear Hidden Hideout. The number of samples rewarded in it are still unknown but it is most probably a one shot for the quest.
Tip: you can keep HH locked until you obtain your Desire Awakening quest series and afterwards unlock HH at the same time.
By doing this, you obtain few samples from Holy Ground and directly achieve this quest segment after clearing HH once for its own quest series.
**About the Desire Clothing, some details to keep in mind:
- The cloathing requires 3 Orbs of Greed to be crafted. Moreover, you will notice there are 2 available quests to obtain them: one green/RPLY quest from Yorhaka in Grasscover, and another orange from Yorhaka again. According to the specificities of these quests, it means it is not possible to perform this task in 1 day!
- The RPLY quest can be achieved only once per day and rewards with 1 Orb of Greed each time. This one will ask you to clear a special maze that can be accessed by using the Hollow in Fabric item + 1 run of Altar of Void in maniac mode. Please note that the special maze also consumes 20 FP at entrance!
- The orange quest can be achieved only once and provides... 1 Orb of Greed too! This is due to the fact this quest is divided into 2 segments: you first need to kill Gruwell (boss) in Betrayers' Army episode 4 in maniac mode 30x and afterwards kill Arculus (boss) in Holy Ground episode 4 in maniac mode 30x as well. Grouping both equals to killing 60x the 2 bosses and rewards with 1 Orb of Greed (but in regular FP consumption, it is at the cost of 1200 FP).
- In general, since it only reduces the task by one day, it is usually not recommended to waste so much FP for the orange quest and then prefer clearing the RPLY quest only, but this choice belongs to you now.
***Now concerning the Desire Energy:
- This one has 100% upgrade chance from +0 to +9, thus meaning you cannot fail your upgrade attempts on it and the amount of required resources to achieve this process is fixed!
- Each upgrade attempt costs 500.000 zenny, 7.500 ether and 2 Desire Fragments. About those fragments:
- You obtain 1 fragment directly after accepting the quest from Tenebris. The real amount of Fragments to farm is actually 17.
- You can obtain respectively 2 and 3 fragments from Yorhaka after completing his RPLY quests "Support I" and "Support II". Each one can be repeated up to 3x per day, and bring then the amount of daily farmable fragments to 15.
- The last way to obtain such fragments is from Yorhaka's workshop:
- You can craft single fragments using either Erosion Stones, Fragments of Order, Fragments of Curiosity, Hollow Leavings, Hollow Fragments and Scars of Sorcery. The craft limit is fixed to 1 per character and each craft costs 10 units of the corresponding material.
- You can also obtain a random amount of fragments from the purchasable item in his workshop (Desire Loaf). It costs 100 Gruton Coins and can be purchased daily, and the amount of obtainable fragments is set between 2 and 5 per opening.
As you could notice, the Desire Awakening quest series is quite longer and harder than the one of the Level 57 Awakening. However, its end rewards are very powerful and not to avoid! [see them just below]
What does provide the Desire Awakening after achievement?
Your Desire Awakening is achieved once you finish to upgrade the Desire Energy and speak to the Corrupted Bookshelf of Grasscover at last. The Desire Awakening's rewards are pretty different from the previous awakening, and among extra goodies you get:
- The Desire outfit. Sadly, the free version doesn't contain the weapon skin and it is not possible to use exclusive emotes from it. Moreover, it has only 1 brooch slot unlocked for every pieces handling brooches and can be equipped once your character reaches level 65 or above (but since we don't have shared bank on our version, this last thing doesn't really matter as you cannot get the free outfit before unlocking the Desire Awakening quest series anyway), but it contains permanent pieces. The Desire outfit, free as well as premium, also comes with a kinda special bonus: an Equalizer.
- The ability to set an Equalizer. Actually, this is an available ability directly unlocked at level 1 as long as you own an outfit bringing an equalizer. But for free to play players, the Desire outfit obtained with its quest is the first one of this kind. It works as follow:
- You first need your Desire outfit to be equipped on you, either equipped normal or equipped (visible).
- Once you wear your outfit, go in your profile card > Costume Item and click on the "Equalizer" button. On the popped-up window you can select the equalizer effect of your choice, here either none or Desire Worker (or anything else if you wear another outfit coming along with an equalizer).
- 1 special photo, contained into the Desire outfit pack. This one is permanent. You can see how it looks in the Photos' List.
As aforementioned, the Desire Awakening doesn't unlock new skills but improve the existing ones. Here are more details:
- It boosts the damage of your level 42 and 62 active skills by 30% of their output damage. Note that the indicated damage in the skill tree ("130%") actually concern the total damage once your Desire Awakening skill is activated.
- It also boosts the damage of the Exodius (Frenzy ultimate finish) skill and adds additional effects to it.
- And finally, it modifies the buffs granted by your Awakening frenzy skill. Now, for every characters, you benefit of:
- +20% more output damage. Not to confuse with the common attack/defense boost provided by titles or consumables: this one impacts your basic stat values, but the buff from the Desire Awakening impacts your global damage.
- +20% attack speed.
- +30% agility/move speed.
- -20% SG consumption.
- All attacks deal max. damage.
- Super armor is active.
- Burning skill is active. It is this one that is responsible from the level 42/62 and Exodus output damage boost.
Note that you also benefit from a 3sec invulnerability after the activation i-frames of your Desire Awakening.
The Desire Awakening, just like the previous Awakening frenzy skill, lasts for 1 min and using the Exodus skill at the middle of its duration does not remove its buffs like it used to be on GFSW!
It is strongly recommended to achieve your Desire Awakening for more comfort in endgame content raids.
What exactly is this "Equalizer" thingy?
The Equalizer is a special feature that has been added with the release of the Desire Awakening. Currently, there are 2 known outfits on the global version that can provide an equalizer:
- The Desire outfit, both free and premium versions.
- The Romande & Blossom (aka "wedding") outfit, which is a premium outfit only.
The Equalizer is used to modify SFX and GFX out of your character. More precisely, it changes the color effects of most of your skills and also change the voice line of your character.
At the moment, it is required for you to wear the outfit providing an equalizer in order to be able to benefit from its effects. However, note that a recent update in KR added the possibility to dismantle outfits and get their emotes and equalizers out from them. Using this, we would be able to extract the equalizer from an outfit providing one and then benefit from its effect whenever we want and without having to wear its outfit for such a purpose.
