Stats Guide - Defense
Last update: 11/29/2021
Your Defense (or "def-DEF") is another common stat you might meet in other RPG games.
It applies a reduction effect to the damage you receive from enemies.
The higher your defense is, the more you get reduced damage from enemies, as works the Defense Rate obtained through your Defense stat.
The defense rate doesn't increase linearly: for example, having 3250 defense while fighting against a level 65 enemy makes you having 50% of defense rate, but at 6500 defense you "only" have 66.67% of defense rate against the same enemy, which is a 16.67% increment for +100% more defense. Please note that even though the defense rate increment seems having diminishing returns as the defense value increases (logarithmic curve), your "Effective HP" (or "EHP") output from the defense rate increases with an exponential behavior!
As for the Attack stat, increasing your defense stat through percentage values applies on your native defense value, which is negligible no matter what. (check each characters' native stats details for more info)

Note that there are cases, especially in endgame raids, where bosses use attack patterns that deal damage ignoring your resistances. For such attack patterns, having a defense value close to 0 or 1,000,000 won't change anything.
